Gabriela do Amaral is a brazilian poet and freelance designer based in Oporto, Portugal.
As a designer and art director, Gahbe was part of the design teams for brands such as Harper´s Bazzar, FARM, MESA and Papel&Caneta. At Elle Brazil, she was the Art Editor in Chief, leading a team of 4 designers. In 2017 she launched her own studio “dupla-face”, where she further explored her role as a multidisciplinary artist, both as a writer and as a designer. Since then she is embracing more projects on branding, naming, publications and editing.
Besides Acidentes Tropicais, Cloro and Língua-mãe, her work is also featured in three poetry anthologies Terceira Margem: Poesia de Portugal e do Brasil (Enfermaria 6, Portugal, 2019), Volta pra tua Terra! uma antologia antirracista/antifascista de poetas estrangeirxs em Portugal (Urutau, Galiza/Portugal/Brazil, 2021) and Fora de série: 110 anos, 110 poetas (U.Porto Press, Portugal, 2021). Her first podcast series, Amor de Quarentena: cartas do isolamento, was spotlighted by prominent media outlets, such as RTP (Portuguese TV station), SBSR (Portuguese Radio station) and Estadão (Brazilian Newspaper).
Gabriela holds a BA in Industrial Design from the Brasília University (Brasília, Brazil), a MFA in Literature, Cultural and Interartistic Studies from Porto University (Porto, Portugal). She was part of the 2016 cohort of the EAV-Parque Lage with São João Residency's artistic residency program (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). In 2021, Gahbe launched her first Writing and Reading Workshop with her partner Cacau Araújo: línguamãe (mothertongue). A community to discuss motherhood and creation, especially with mothers & writers.
